Privacy Policy

The short version: Aurora collects only what it needs to function. We store your Discord user ID and the data you explicitly create (notes, submissions, XP). We do not sell, share, or monetize your data. Ever.

1. Information We Collect

Aurora collects the following data when you interact with the bot:

2. Information We Do Not Collect

Aurora does not collect, access, or store:

Your email address or password
Private or direct messages
Messages in channels where Aurora is not mentioned or invoked
Voice channel data or audio
Server messages or chat history
Personal information beyond your Discord user ID

3. AI and Third-Party Services

When you use the "Ask Aurora" feature, your question is sent to a third-party AI provider (currently Groq) to generate a response.

Important: Aurora does not store your AI conversations. However, the third-party AI provider may process and temporarily retain your input in accordance with their own privacy policy. We recommend not sharing sensitive personal information through the AI feature.

4. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on secure cloud infrastructure
Database access is restricted and not publicly accessible
We use encrypted connections for all database communications
No data is shared with third parties for advertising or analytics

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as you actively use Aurora. If you wish to have your data deleted, you may request deletion at any time (see Section 7). Upon request, all data associated with your Discord user ID will be permanently removed from our database within 30 days.

6. Children's Privacy

Aurora is not intended for users under the age of 13, in compliance with Discord's Terms of Service and COPPA regulations. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we become aware that a user is under 13, their data will be promptly deleted.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access — Request a copy of all data we store about you
Delete — Request permanent deletion of all your data
Rectify — Request correction of inaccurate data
Withdraw — Stop using Aurora at any time by simply not interacting with the bot

To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the channels listed in Section 9.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of Aurora after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
